Tue, Jul 23: Victoria, Canada

We fly to Victoria, Canada.  A relatively short flight (2 hours 15 minutes).
Good weather, sunny, in the 70’s.
Our hotel is right on the water…two bedroom suite with large balcony facing the harbor.  We stayed at this hotel a number of years ago when we did a trip to Canada with Josh and his best friend Josh (Harris – our "other son" :-) ).

Walked around the harbor area a bit.
There was the annual International  Buskers Festival going on while we were in Victoria, with lots of street performers and musicians, and lots of food booths.

People waiting in line for the famous Red Fish Blue Fish fish and chips place.

Took a harbor tour on a water taxi:

There is a “runway” for the seaplanes right in the middle of the harbor.  Coordinated by an operations tower to keep the planes and boats separated.

Wed, Jul 24: Butchart Gardens

Took a bus to Butchart Gardens.  Another sunny warm day.  Spent several hours there.  It is built into what was an old rock quarry.  Some of the most beautiful gardens in the world.

Walked around town when got back.  Ate dinner at ReBar – vegetarian and fish restaraunt.

Thu, Jul 25: Victoria and environs

We had good weather, sunny, in the 70’s.

Drawbridge near our hotel.  Boat is taller than it looks :-)

Took a hop on/off bus around town.

Could see Mt Baker (in Washington state).

Afterwards we had high tea at the Empress Hotel (THE place to stay).  Mom had a great time shopping for, and buying,  jewelry at the Empress jewelry shop.
