Sat, Aug 17: Kenai

Morning rain, afternoon clouds.  

Saw Kenai old town, 

Russian Orthodox Church.   There was a docent at the church who talked about the history and answered questions about the church and the religion.  There were very few pews or chairs in the church.  Apparently all the congregants stand during the service, except for the elderly or others with mobility issues…they get the very few chairs available.

St. Nicholas Memorial Chapel.

Fort Kenai: 

Stopped at Erik Hansen Scout Park overlooking the bay.  There are volcanos across the bay but too many clouds to see much.

Walked along the Kenai River Estuary.
